While there is increasing global and regional attention being paid to contemporary art from Southeast Asia, there are concerns that the development of art criticism and art institutions continues to lag behind the spectacle of biennales and the art market. This past April, LEAP invited Singapore-based art critic Lee Weng Choy to Beijing discuss some of the challenges facing art institutions and art criticism in the region.
